Every fact about a bill, a vote or a representative in YourVoice.Now comes from an official public source, and every bill links back to its own page on Congress.gov.
We are not a government entity
YourVoice.Now is an independent, nonpartisan platform built by a private company. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of the United States Congress, any government agency, or any elected official, and it does not provide or facilitate government services. Official information is published by the sources below; we present it, and we link to the original so you can check us.
Where each thing comes from
- Bills, sponsors, cosponsors and legislative status
Congress.gov, the official website for U.S. federal legislative information, retrieved through its public API.
- House roll-call votes
The Office of the Clerk of the U.S. House of Representatives.
- Senate roll-call votes
The United States Senate's published roll-call vote records.
- Members of Congress — names, party, state, district, terms and photographs
Congress.gov member records and the Biographical Directory of the United States Congress.
- Representative biographies
Wikipedia, adapted under CC BY-SA. Each biography links to the article it came from.
- Contact forms, office addresses and phone numbers
Each member's own official house.gov or senate.gov website. Contacting a representative opens that office's own form — we do not deliver mail on the government's behalf.
What we write ourselves
The plain-language summaries, the accountability flags and the alignment figures are ours. They are editorial descriptions of official records, not official government text, and they can be wrong in the way any summary can be wrong — which is why the full official text is one tap away on every bill.
Stances, follows and the constituent alignment charts come from YourVoice.Now users. They are not government polling and do not represent an official measurement of public opinion.
